Khama Worthy is 2-0 in his UFC career and wants to be paid right by the promotion

Rising UFC star Khama Worthy certainly knows his worth as he enjoys a perfect start to his career in the promotion.

The Deathstar is 2-0 after a couple of great bouts and is keen to get into the Octagon again. He was speaking to MMA Unhinged exclusively about his future and also spoke about how much money he is making in the promotion.

Worthy was open about how much he made from his last fight, against Luis Pena, but was surprised that his rival made more than he did:

“My last fight, I made $14,000 and $14,000 and I made 12 and 12 for the first one. Luis Pena made twice what I made and I was like ‘mother****** damn’.”

Worthy added that all of this was the fight game and he understood how things worked. He said that people were asking him to fight for a top 20 guy but he claimed that the other opponent could deal more damage and was making more money than him.

Worthy was willing to fight even Francis Ngannou but only for the right pay:

“I’ll fight Francis Ngannou if they put the right f****** price in front when they are writing my numbers.”

He added he wouldn’t fight a top 15 guy for 14 and 14 since it costs $10,000 to set up a proper camp for a top-level opponent.

Give Ribas the money

While Worthy was speaking on his situation, he also highlighted Amanda Ribas. The Brazilian is also undefeated in her UFC career and she seems to be a fan favourite for many.

Ribas easily defeated Paige VanZant in her last outing, and she is an exciting character outside the Octagon too.

Worthy spoke about how much the Brazilian was making and claimed she should be making a lot more in her next contract.

“What’s that Brazilian girl, Amanda [Ribas]? I love her, she is making like $16,000 and $16,000. I’m like ‘God damn’, she’s out there beating girl’s as*** and everyone’s watching.

“She’s definitely up for a contract update as well. She smoked Paige VanZant, she’s funny as hell. I want to meet her in person.”

He added he had watched all her fights and claimed you could feel the energy coming through the TV.

Who are the oddsmakers?

Worthy was also asked if he was going to be the underdog in his next fight or not. The Deathstar wasn’t the favourite to win his first two clashes, but did so, and believed he should be the favourite for his next fight.

However, Worthy took a shot at the oddsmakers in the UFC. He questioned who these people were and if they were real too.

Worthy also asked if these people could be named, but no one knows who they are, something that the Deathstar spoke about:

“They’re not even f***** real. It’s not real, it doesn’t mean anything. Nothing’s stuck in stone, they are not like some creators of the magic MMA world and they know what is going to happen.”

He called them out for being stupid as he was the underdog in his first two UFC fights.

“Obviously, there is an algorithm where they think they can set things up. Fighting is not about that, fighting has nothing to do with algorithms, we are not playing baseball.”

While Worthy is one of the rising stars in the UFC, he also claimed that he wasn’t aiming to get into the UFC initially.

Worthy revealed that there were too many people in his division and he was keen on joining other promotions.

However, he was pleased to be part of the organisation and was looking forward to what is next in his UFC journey.
