Frank Camacho takes on Brok Weaver in his next UFC fight
UFC Lightweight star Frank Camacho was the latest guest to feature on the Blood, Sweat and Tears podcast.
The 31-year-old has a tough assignment against UFC newcomer Brok Weaver next, but was looking forward to the fight.
Camacho was asked what he thought about his opponent, and the Guam-based star was impressed with what he saw:
“I google his tribe and the history of his tribe. Very heavy and colourful history.”
Weaver is a native American and looks like an absolute unit too, something that Camacho brought up:
“He is a tough guy. I am just excited for the match-up and stoked for the fight.”
The 31-year-old hasn’t had the greatest of times in the UFC and has lost four out of his last five fights. Weaver is coming off a loss in his last fight too and the pair would be keen on getting the win.
However, MMA wasn’t the original passion for Camacho as he explained a little later in the interview.
While growing up as a teenage, he was a decent golfer and planned to take that up full-time. However, he wanted to lose weight and saw some people try out No Holds Barred (NHB). That got him hooked into MMA, even though he played no other sports except golf.
While Camacho fights in the UFC, he spoke about how big PRIDE was during his time in Guam and the other nearby islands.
The 31-year-old named Fedor Emelianenko and Wanderlei Silva as his two favourite fighters in MMA.
Camacho added that he wasn’t going to name anyone specifically for his next fight but was keen on picking up wins and continuing to learn more about MMA.
He did have a couple of predictions to make on some huge fights in the coming weeks. Israel Adesanya takes on Paulo Costa and Camacho backed the Brazilian in this:
“I am a huge fan of both but I love how Costa brings the fight. He is going to bring it. I am going to put my money on Costa.”
He also backed Colby Covington to get the better of Tyron Woodley once they meet.
