Giga Chikadze is undefeated in his last three UFC fights and wants a shot at Edson Barboza

Georgian UFC star Giga Chikadze spoke with Jer Wilson of the Blood, Sweat and Tears podcast recently.

Chikadze currently fights in the Featherweight division and hopes to pick up a title soon. However, he already has another target on his mind after taking on Alex Caceres on 29 August.

The 31-year-old had called out Edson Barboza in the past but the Brazilian did not respond. However, he still tried to get his rival’s attention:

“Last time I wanted to fight Edson Barboza but he didn’t really reply. But, yeah, I will shoot my message again and let’s see what happens.”

While Barboza would be a great fight for Chikadze, the Georgian was concentrating on the fight ahead. Chikadze claimed he already has seen this fight in his head and knows how it will go.

However, Barboza was also on his mind and that seems to be his target after Caceres:

“I am concentrating on this one, and then next, we will see what happens. Maybe Edson, Maybe Edson, I will give my regards to him”

Barboza has 29 fights in his career but has lost his last three. He has faced some of the best in the UFC though with Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje and Dan Hooker some of his fights over the past three years.

The 31-year-old Chikadze also spoke about representing Georgia and how much pressure there is on his shoulders.

However, he was pleased that the UFC now has five Georgians on their roster and they are 9-0 over their last nine appearances.

Chikadze also hoped that Dana White would be able to host a UFC event in Georgia soon. The 31-year-old promised his fans back home that he would win the belt one day, and that could become a reality if he keeps taking care of opponents in the Octagon.
