Dustin Poirier vs Conor McGregor is a huge fight at UFC 257 and Gilbert Burns shared his prediction for the same

The Schmozone had Gilbert Burns as its latest guest and the Brazilian opened up on a lot of topics.

Burns is to face Kamaru Usman for the Welterweight title at UFC 258 and the Brazilian has been excellent since his move up to the division.

While this is a huge fight with Burns claiming he was going to win, there is another one to start off UFC 257.

Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier is a huge rematch from a few years back. It was McGregor who came out on top in the previous outing and Burns predicted that the Irishman would get the win again:

“That’s a tough one. I hope Dustin but I think Conor. Conor is very good, both improved a lot from the last fight but I just think Conor will get it, you know.”

McGregor has it all

While Poirier is coming off a huge win over Dan Hooker, McGregor hasn’t fought in almost a year.

The Irishman defeated Donald Cerrone in exceptional fashion on his UFC return and Burns claimed that the Notorious One has all the tools to get the better of Poirier.

Burns brought up how the fight could go for the pair and it was McGregor who was going to get the win:

“I think Dustin love the stand-up fight, you are not going to be looking for a takedown, for any grappling exchange, if he goes, he’s going to get it but I think the fight will be more on the feet and I think Conor has the power, the speed, a lot of weapons.

“Spinning kicks and a lot of things he can do. I hope Dustin wins but I think Conor will win.”

The winner of this fight could also have a crack at the Lightweight title. Khabib Nurmagomedov’s coach claimed that Poirier should be in contention for the title.

Khabib hasn’t been stripped of the crown and it will be interesting to see what happens next. Dana White is trying hard to get Khabib back from retirement but there are a lot of big names keen on picking up that Lightweight gold.
