Carlos Felipe lost his first professional fight in his debut UFC clash
Carlos Felipe was the latest guest on the WERMMA podcast. The Brazilian is 8-1 in his MMA career and his first professional loss came in his debut UFC fight.
However, the 25-year-old wants to excite fans with his fights. He was asked what his ambitions were in MMA and claimed that his obligation was to excite the fans. Felipe also said he wanted to copy another top fighter but base himself in the heavyweight division:
“Always exciting fights like a Heavyweight Donald Cerrone. Always prepared and always ready to fight and always good fights. It is my obligation, only this.”
Cerrone is certainly an exciting fighter and Felipe had a prediction for his next fight. He is to take on Yorgan de Castro and claimed they are both strikers and this fight could be the fight of the night.
The Brazilian didn’t know where the clash was going to be, but he wasn’t sure if he lost the last battle.
Felipe believed it was a close fight and at least, it should have been a draw:
“In my opinion, I didn’t lose that fight. At least, a draw. In my opinion, I won the first two rounds. Everybody that I talked [with] said the same thing, I won the first and the second round. He won the last round but it should be a draw.”
That loss was against Yuri Andrey and his rival was given a unanimous win.
However, the Brazilian claimed he was enjoying his time in the UFC and felt amazing living his dream.
Only looking at Heavyweights
Many UFC stars switch between divisions to find their optimum weight. Felipe was asked if he was willing to switch divisions, however, the Brazilian confirmed he was going to stay as a heavyweight.
He added that moving divisions was impossible for him since he already was very heavy.
However, Felipe was looking to correct some of the mistakes he made in his previous clash. The 25-year-old confirmed he wasn’t as aggressive as he usually is and didn’t fight at his best in his previous outing.
Felipe would be keen on breaking his UFC duck soon, and it will be interesting to see how he does in his next fight.
De Castro is 6-1 in his MMA career and his first loss also came in his last fight. However, De Castro has two UFC fights under his belt and also has featured on Dana White’s Contender Series.
The two heavyweights are to face later this year, and this could be one of the best fights of 2020.
