Ronnie Lawrence impressed Dana White in the latest Contender Series and is the newest member of the UFC roster

Ronnie Lawrence was the latest guest to feature on WERMMA as he opened up about signing for the UFC.

The 28-year-old defeated the highly rated Jose Johnson in a brilliant fight. This took place at the Contender Series and even though Lawrence didn’t get a finish, he was handed a contract.

Dana White was also impressed by the American and claimed he was something special. While Lawrence got a contract and is raring to go on a proper UFC card, he doesn’t have an opponent in mind.

The 28-year-old shared why but hoped things would improve after a few fights:

“I am a newbie and I really only know the guys in the top five. I probably watched a few bantamweights and didn’t realize it.

“Top five and that’s just probably not happening. I don’t have a guy right now but after four or five fights I will have the respect to start calling people out.”

Not happy with performance

One problem coming into his last fight was the weight cut. Lawrence claimed he had a lot of problems reaching weight and things didn’t go as planned pre-fight.

That was a reason he wasn’t pleased with his performance but was willing to get back in action next year.

While that was something he didn’t enjoy, he did reveal what his favourite snack was after a fight. Surprisingly, a pizza role or a hot pocket is the thing to eat for the new UFC signing after a fight.

While he didn’t have a name to fight next, he was keen on erasing his only loss in his professional career.

That took place at the hands of Steve Garcia and he is also in the UFC:

“Any loss would be great to get back. Every fighter has an ego and that would be awesome.”

However, Garcia has had problems with cutting weight and Lawrence didn’t think that his rival would be able to face him in the Bantamweight division again.

Garcia’s last fight was against Luis Pena in the Lightweight division, and the 28-year-old lost that via unanimous decision.
