Justin Jaynes lost to Gavin Tucker but was keen on returning quickly for his next UFC fight
Justin Jaynes had a hot start against Gavin Tucker in his last UFC clash. However, he was unable to get the win as he submitted to a rear-naked choke in the third round.
This was the 31-year-old’s first UFC loss and his record now stands at 16-5, however, this loss also snapped a five-fight winning streak.
Jaynes took this bout on short notice and the weight cut seemed to have taken a toll on the American. He was speaking to WERMMA recently and was asked if the weight cut affected his performance:
“100%, I am not going to say it was just the weight cut. I over-trained the f*** for that fight man. Minimum, I was doing three to five hours a day of training. Mostly trying to get my weight down.”
Jaynes claimed he didn’t feel perfect during the fight and got dropped with a knee in the third round.
However, Jaynes was happy with how the fight went and how everyone enjoyed it, but he added that losing is never good.
Jaynes also claimed that he was willing to fight Tucker again but only after he got a few wins under his belt.
The UFC has a couple of events coming up with one at Fight Island and the other at Vegas. Jaynes was asked where he wanted to fight but the 31-year-old said that depended on which weight class he had to appear in:
“It depends on the opponent and the weight class. If it’s going to be a 145 again, I need a longer camp and I want it to be in Vegas. I want to know how everything is going to work here.
“If it is Fight Island though, s*** 155-70, I will show up a day before and make weight.”
While a fight against Tucker could take place later on, Jaynes wanted to also face Clay Guida in the UFC.
Jaynes claimed that he had watched Guida a lot and it would be an honour to face the UFC veteran. Guida also lost his last fight, just like Jaynes, and it will be interesting to see if this clash does happen in the future.
