Exclusive: Michael Bisping opens up on Leon Edwards’ future and predicts Jorge Masvidal vs Nate Diaz 2

Michael Bisping believed that Leon Edwards deserved a top fight but wanted to see Jorge Masvidal vs Nate Diaz 2

Michael Bisping was speaking to the Schmo as the UFC legend shared several great stories from his career.

The former Middleweight champion is a Hall of Famer and is now a commentator for the promotion. Bisping was also promoting his new book and provided an update on his knee. The British star had replaced his other knee and even showed off some of the staples in the region.

Bisping also spoke about Leon Edwards and what should be next for his fellow Brit. Edwards got the short end of the stick during the coronavirus pandemic and was stuck in the UK while other fights took place.

He was to fight for the title too, but things took a different turn. Edwards is being linked with a clash against Jorge Masvidal but Gamebred could face Nate Diaz again.

Bisping shared his thoughts on all this but believed Masvidal vs Diaz 2 should happen:

“I am not going to rain on the Masvidal vs Diaz fight, listen, a lot of people want to see that fight.

“It will generate a ton of money. Diaz was pushing for the rematch and he feels that it was stopped prematurely because of the cut.

“I don’t feel it was stopped prematurely. I don’t think the second fight will show anything different, that said, I will tune in and watch.

“It will still be an exciting fight, an exciting event, there is no way I am going to miss that fight.”

Masvidal vs Edwards makes sense too

However, Bisping still wanted to see Masvidal vs Edwards and highlighted that a lot of stuff had been done already:

“But for me, I want to see Leon Edwards vs Jorge Masvidal. The marketing is all there, look at Khabib vs Conor.”

The UFC Hall of Famer also claimed that the marketing for this was done, but wanted Edwards to push his talents more:

“For my money, that’s the fight I want to see. I think Leon deserves it, he certainly has put in a body of work. He’s on a roll, he’s got the skills, he just needs to talk a little bit more.

“I think that’s what’s holding him back, he needs the big fights, he deserves the big fights, he just needs to talk a little bit more.”

It will be interesting to see what is next for Edwards and Masvidal. Gamebred missed out on winning the Welterweight title as Kamaru Usman beat him. However, a clash against Diaz would be a cracker and the UFC would sell a lot of PPVs.
