Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Georges St-Pierre (GSP) has been brought up several times but Miesha Tate doesn’t see the fight take place

Miesha Tate was the latest star to give her opinion on the possibility of Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Georges St-Pierre (GSP) taking place.

The former UFC star was on the Schmozone podcast and spoke on several topics including her MMA GOATs.

Demetrious Johnson, who is fighting for ONE Championship, made the cut while Tate had a few others to name too:

“He [Demetrious Johnson] is definitely top 3 for me.

“I would say pound for pound Amanda [Nunes]. I think that’s hard to argue otherwise and probably Georges St-Pierre. GSP is up there for me, Daniel Cormier is part of the conversation, obviously Jon Jones, there is a little asterisk next to that because of the PED whatever but still an amazing fighter.”

Tate is the VP of ONE but also had her take on Khabib vs GSP. The former UFC Champion believed there was one major hurdle to the fight and it was time.

GSP having to wait a bit

Khabib retired from the UFC after defeating Justin Gaethje. He then revealed that this was a promise made to his mother after his father died and he wasn’t coming back.

However, Dana White has constantly stated that he will try to get Khabib back and hasn’t stripped him of the title.

Tate, for her part, believed that Khabib needed time to convince his mother over a UFC return and that might not be great for GSP:

“I think it would take a lot for that to happen but I don’t think so.

“I think the reason why is because I think Khabib might have one more in him if he wants to hit that 30-0 goal but I think he may take some time to get there and I think time is the enemy of Georges St-Pierre right now.

“I think it would take Khabib another year before he convinces his mama bear to support him to coming back, would GSP still be interested in coming back at that point.”

However, Tate also brought up that she wasn’t sure that Khabib would be back and that had to be dealt with.

The former champion wanted to be wrong but it is to be seen what happens when White has further meetings with the current Lightweight champion.
