Ivana Siric is an up and coming MMA star but she isn’t a professional yet
Ivana Siric might be from Norway but more of her MMA fights have taken place outside of the country.
The 5-1 amateur was speaking to WERMMA and it was a chance call that actually got her into the world of MMA:
“I get a message from matchmaker in Oslo from where I was working. He asked me if I want to have a MMA fight in England in 135 pounds.
“I was thinking I never trained MMA but I was a solid kickboxer. My jiu jitsu is not bad so why not? Let’s try.
“I started with MMA a few months before my first fight with Melissa Mullins and I am happy with my decision.”
The youngster claimed that she had tons of kickboxing medals and she moved to Brazilian jiu jitsu during her late teens.
However, the major problem lies with her trying to get a contract during this pandemic. While the UFC still lands stars using the Contender Series, it hasn’t been easy for Siric. She does have a couple of Cage Warriors Academy titles but that hasn’t resulted in a contract:
“Yeah but first I gotta get a chance to fight in Cage Warriors but I didn’t find a fighter and that’s done.
“So I need to find another promotion.”
Norway has a ton of talent
The rising star also spoke about the MMA scene in Norway. While she confirmed that there are a ton of gyms and talented stars, Norwegians need to fight somewhere else:
“It’s a lot of gyms in Norway and so much talent and potential. But MMA is not legal here yet.”
While she didn’t have any favourite UFC stars she did confirm that Valentina Shevchenko is someone she likes.
The youngster added that it was her dream to get into the UFC, which would be her last station, and wanted to also be the best in the world. However, she kept a timeline of 10 years to achieve this.
