Modestas Bukauskas won his first UFC fight with a little controversy around it but the 26-year-old wants more fights
Modestas Bukauskas was one of the winners from the UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs Ige event. This was the Lithuanian-born star’s first fight in the promotion and he certainly impressed.
While there was some controversy regarding how he won the clash, the 26-year-old cleared the air about his elbows while speaking to WERMMA in an exclusive interview.
The rising star also spoke about how great the entire Fight Island experience was and how well he was taken care in Abu Dhabi.
However, the youngster does have a lot of plans for the future. He was asked what he was going to do with his $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus. Bukauskas claimed that the money would take a couple of weeks to come, but he was going to give it to his parents:
“I am giving it all to my dad and my step-mom. I’ve made some good money already. That’s the most money I have made in my life ever in terms of wages. The 50Gs, I want to give it to them cause they need it more than me right now.”
He added that he was trying to get ready for his next fight but this would help his parents out a lot:
“I want to help them, I mean they have been struggling this whole time and I noticed that that’s what stresses them out the most for the most part.”
Bukauskas claimed that some of the stress for his parents would be taken away with the cash payment, and it would also free up his father and him to concentrate on the UFC career.
“If I can help them, it would mean the world to me, the first 50Gs is going to them.”
Bukauskas also revealed that the birthdays of his step-mom and dad were coming soon, and this would be a nice gift for the pair.
While the 26-year-old wanted to continue his MMA dream, he also has a few targets on a ‘vision board’. He was asked what are the targets and the UFC star shared that he has some smaller targets too.
Khamzat Chimaev was brought up in the discussion as the Swedish star fought twice in 10 days and won them too.
“The side dish being, I want to have three fights this year. I saw Khamzat Chimaev have a really quick turnaround, like literally 10 days. He had a very good performance and stuff, I want to be able to get quick turnarounds as well.”
However, that wasn’t it all for Bukauskas. He wanted to win all of his fights with spectacular finishes and pick up bonuses too.
The 26-year-old added that he didn’t want decision wins and was keen on giving some entertainment to the fans.
Bukauskas might just be one fight old in the UFC but he certainly seems to be aiming high. He was impressive in his first clash and there is no doubt great things are in store for him.
