The Russian is one of the biggest names in the UFC and is undefeated. He is also the Lightweight Champion and Scott explained that Khabib’s popularity has led to the growth of MMA in the region:

“Everyone knows everyone in this country, it is a very small community. Especially the MMA community.

“It has exploded now since the Khabib thing. It has exploded majorly after that with Khabib being a Muslim, they all get behind him.

“When I first got into this country there were maybe two or three MMA gyms, now there are at least 10. There is a lot of them out there.

“And the coaches are legit I think we got 16 Brazilian Jiu jitsu blackbelts in the country alone that are nationals.”

Khabib is legitimately one of the greatest ever, and the Middle East has almost become a second home to the UFC thanks to Abu Dhabi’s Fight Island.

Ready to jump to the UFC

Scott was also willing to join the UFC on short notice. The 29-year-old claimed he was open to filling up a card at Fight Island too, given that the distance between Kuwait and Abu Dhabi isn’t all that great.

“Whatever the most legit route to the UFC is I will take it. If I am eligible for the UFC with one more win, I would jump on Fight Island on five days notice.”

The 29-year-old was hopeful that he was just another fight or two away from the UFC. The UFC is one of the biggest MMA promotions in the world and it will be interesting to see if Scott does get his move soon.
