Amanda Nunes is the only woman to have defeated Valentina Shevchenko in the UFC

Valentina ‘Bullet’ Shevchenko was on the Schmozone podcast as the UFC Flyweight champion opened up on several topics.

The 32-year-old is considered as one of the greatest female athletes in the UFC and has defended her Flyweight title extremely well.

While she is to face Jennifer Maia at UFC 255 there was a discussion about Amanda Nunes. The Brazilian holds two UFC belts and is the only woman to have gotten the better of the Bullet in the UFC.

In fact, Shevchenko has lost twice to Nunes and the last battle was for the Bantamweight title. Shevchenko has only lost to one other woman, Liz Carmouche, in her career, and she beat her rival recently too.

The Schmo asked if she wanted to finally get a win over Nunes and when the third instalment of their battle could happen.

However, Shevchenko was happy sticking to her division, for now:

“Right now Flyweight division is where I am right now. This is where I want to compete, what I want at this moment.

“I was waiting a lot for this weight class. I am not even the tallest one in my weight class and I just feel good I have this opportunity to fight in Flyweight.”

Battle happening in the future

However, the Bullet added that she was open to fighting Nunes in the future. Shevchenko added that the fight probably wouldn’t take place next year too but it was going to happen:

“About Amanda, I think, as I say it every time, I see it happening. I know that Dana [White], he was saying that kind of not now, not at this moment but I felt the same.

“Not tomorrow, not next month, not next year but it is going to happen.”

Nunes won a split decision the last time she met Shevchenko, and this would be another amazing rematch if the UFC was to do it.

Shevchenko certainly looks to be in the best shape of her life while Nunes is regarded as the GOAT, at least in women’s MMA.
