Vinicius de Jesus was bullied in school and started training at a young age
LFA star Vinicius de Jesus was the latest guest to feature on the Blood, Sweat and Tears podcast.
The 30-year-old faces Jaleel Willis in his next fight for the vacant Welterweight title. While De Jesus is 9-2 in his MMA career, his rival is 12-2 and this should be a great fight.
The Brazilian is on a four-fight win streak and was confident of picking up the gold. He was also asked how he got into MMA.
Like many stars, De Jesus was also a victim of bullying and that was why he got into MMA. The 30-year-old also spoke about his father being a boxer and that got him started:
“My father actually put me in this world. I joined martial arts because of bullying in school. That is how everything started.
“My father used to be an amateur boxer. So to take me out of the bullies of school and the problems, he drive me to his friend’s gym of Jiu Jitsu.”
De Jesus added that he learned Jiu Jitsu and boxing since he was 12, and also Capoeira and was always in this environment.
While the 30-year-old spoke about several Brazilians that he loved watching while growing up, he already has his feet into management and coaching.
De Jesus added that he had to plan for a future when he wasn’t fighting anymore and was happy to help out other Brazilians finish their training camps.
The 30-year-old believed training and coaching was just an extension of what he had already been doing, but he was excited to fight next.
De Jesus wanted to experience fighting in an empty arena and added that he enjoyed some of the UFC fights with no fans in the arena.
