Here’s everything you need to know about the pet cats of F1 star Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen has two Bengal cats named Jimmy and Sassy. The Bengal cat is a domestic feline breed that was developed by crossbreeding the Asian leopard cat with domestic cats, particularly the Egyptian Mau, which is known for its distinctive spots.
To ensure a more friendly demeanor in the offspring, Bengal cats are often further bred with breeds that exhibit a more amiable personality. The name of the breed is derived from the taxonomic name of the leopard cat. Bengal cats have a striking appearance, characterized by a golden shimmer inherited from their leopard cat ancestors.
Their coats can display various patterns, including spots, rosettes, arrowhead markings, or marbling. They are known for their high energy levels and require plenty of exercise and play.
Verstappen has found himself in some amusing situations involving his cats. On one occasion, he shared an anecdote about having to rescue his feline friend by resorting to rather unconventional means. He disclosed that his pet cat had gone missing for an extended period, only to be discovered making noise from within a confined cupboard room. In a bid to free the trapped cat, the Red Bull racing star had to take a hammer to break through the wall, ultimately allowing the cat to escape to safety.
Max Verstappen once jokingly named his cats after F1 rivals Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff
Max Verstappen’s cats, were once referred to by the Dutchman as Lewis and Toto. He joked about this in a livestream. Verstappen’s rivalry with Mercedes in Formula 1 has been one of the most compelling storylines in recent years. This intense competition revolves around Verstappen, driving for Red Bull Racing, challenging the dominance of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, led by Lewis Hamilton.
Verstappen burst onto the F1 scene with Red Bull Racing in 2016, immediately displaying his prodigious talent. However, it was in the 2020 and 2021 seasons that his rivalry with Mercedes truly intensified.
One key aspect of this rivalry has been the contrast in driving styles and team dynamics. Verstappen’s aggressive and fearless approach on the track contrasts with Hamilton’s strategic and calculated racing. Red Bull, led by Christian Horner, has fiercely contested Mercedes’ dominance, adding another layer of intrigue to the competition. Notably, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton’s on-track battles have often pushed the limits of fair racing, leading to heated debates among fans and pundits. These high-stakes duels have highlighted the determination of both drivers to secure World Championships.
