The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix is scheduled to take place from 17th March to 19th March at the Jeddah Circuit

F1 action moves to Saudi Arabia this weekend after an enthralling Bahrain GP. The Saudi Arabian GP was held for the first time in 2021 and this will be the 3rd edition of the Grand Prix. It is one of the very few night races in the Formula One calendar and that makes it a spectacle for viewers across the globe. The Jeddah Cornice Circuit is the home of the Saudi Arabian GP.

The Jeddah F1 circuit is located in the Red Sea port city of Jeddah, in Saudi Arabia. It is considered to be the fastest street track in the current F1 calendar and is the second-longest track after Spa-Francorchamps. The circuit was designed by Carsten Tilke, son of the famed circuit designer, Hermann Tilke and is listed as an FIA Grade I circuit.

Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen are the joint-most successful drivers in the history of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, having won one title each. Mercedes and Red Bull are the most successful constructors, having registered seven wins in the 2021 and 2022 editions respectively. Lewis Hamilton’s lap timing of 1:30.734, while driving a Mercedes W12 in the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix is the official race lap record at this GP.

Red Bull dominate the drivers’ championship standings after a fantastic start to the season with a 1-2 finish in Bahrain. Max Verstappen leads the standings with 25 points followed by his team-mate Sergio Perez, who occupies the second spot with 18 points while Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso lies in the third spot with 15 points – ahead of Carlos Sainz, Lewis Hamilton and Lance Stroll.

In the constructors’ championship, reigning champions Red Bull lead the table with 43 points. Aston Martin are significantly behind in second place with 23 points. Mercedes are further behind – they occupy third place, having earned 16 points.
