The Australian Grand Prix is scheduled to take place from March 31 to April 2 at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne – is alcohol allowed?
F1 fans visiting Melbourne for the Australian GP will be relieved that they can finally consume alcohol while enjoying the action on the track. Alcohol was banned in the first two races of the season – Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, but there are no such restrictions in Australia.
While you can certainly enjoy alcohol by purchasing it from outlets within the Albert Park Circuit, fans need to be aware that you are not permitted to bring alcohol from outside. If you are found carrying alcohol or glass containers while entering the circuit, you will be denied entry unless you dispose them off.
There are many quality food and drink facilities across the Alber Park Circuit and you will certainly not be short of options.
While there are restrictions in place regarding bringing alcohol into the circuit, it’s not applicable for food items. Fans are permitted to bring their own food into the circuit in plastic containers or bags. Unlike Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, there are no specific restrictions regarding how you dress up either.
The forecast for the weekend in Melbourne looks a bit dicey with moderate chances of rainfall. You must be prepared for intervals of rainfall and carry umbrellas or raincoats to protect yourself from showers. The temperature will be ideal for racing, so that’s not much of a worry. However, cloudy conditions along with scattered showers are predicted and that’s worrying news for teams and fans alike.
Friday is expected to be cloudy and there is a strong forecast for showers which could hamper the practice session. The qualifying session on Saturday will take place under cloudy conditions but chances of rainfall are less. The main race on Sunday will experience partly cloudy conditions but the temperature is expected to be ideal for racing. Although the rain is not much of a threat on race day, conditions might change quickly – fans and teams will have their fingers crossed that rain doesn’t play spoilsport.
