Alex Albon looks to be settling quite well into his new seat at Williams but has credited the team’s solid foundation ahead of the Bahrain pre-season testing.

Former Red Bull driver Alex Albon agreed to join Williams last year and already looks quite pleased with his new team. Albon had been Red Bull‘s reserve driver for 2021 after moving to the team in 2019. However, he is now getting his second chance to drive in F1.

He was part of the Toro Rosso outfit from 2012 until his move to the Red Bull senior team. Albon was, however, replaced by Sergio Perez for the entirety of last year. He had to settle for a place as a reserve driver but the wait for an F1 return didn’t take long.

After he signed for Williams later in 2021, F1 fans could not be happier for Albon. And the driver himself has a lot to smile about ahead of the pre-season testing in Bahrain.

Alex Albon on driving for Williams

While recently speaking to reporters, Albon revealed that the transition of moving from Red Bull to Williams was smooth. He also revealed how impressed he was with the team, who managed to rack up 347 laps during the pre-season testing in Barcelona.

In doing so, Williams placed a respectable 5th place among most laps completed at the Circuit de Catalunya. Albon also likened driving for Williams as going to a new school but was content with the foundation set by the team.

The Bahrain pre-season testing will take place from March 10th – 12th and the 25-year-old is excited about it. He said, “Honestly, feeling very good, getting good mileage into the car, It seems like everyone is doing pretty well, everyone is getting good mileage in… The car is feeling very, very good to begin with. I feel like we’ve got a good foundation to start the year on.

Albon has finished on the podium twice in F1 before. He will now be hoping to build on that when he gets the opportunity with Williams this year.
