Alfa Romeo has taken a big step for a sustainable future – here’s everything you need to know
Formula One has already taken massive steps to become more environment-friendly and we are gradually moving towards a more sustainable future. Alfa Romeo F1 team has now stepped up in support of the cause and collaborated with ‘Kick Out Plastic’ ahead of the new season. Kick Out Plastic is a not-for-profit, international campaign fighting for a world free of single-use plastics and environmental crises.
Alfa Romeo F1 team’s official handle announced on Twitter: “We’re proud to be taking steps towards a more sustainable future, as we announce a partnership with @KickOutPlastic1: a global initiative seeking to promote positive changes in behaviour and choices to improve our planet’s health through the power of sport.” The partnership is part of Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake’s sustainability strategy, which is in line with Formula One’s goals to become a net zero carbon sporting spectacle by 2030, and with the team’s commitment to social and ecological responsibility both on and off the track. In the upcoming season, the Alfa Romeo F1 Team drivers and team members will be seen using reusable drinking bottles provided by Kick Out Plastic, eliminating the usage of single-use plastics trackside.
Let us take a look at some of the reactions from fans on social media.
“Great to hear”, wrote a fan, who is evidently happy to know about the collaboration.
“Huh, do the drivers have to get permission to be able to speak about this on race weekends?” – read a sarcastic tweet.
“Love this”, tweeted another fan.
Another fan wrote: “Nonsense. Tell third world countries to dispose of their rubbish properly and the problem is solved. America. Beaches don’t look like trash dumps.”
