Sebastian Montoya will represent Red Bull in Formula 3 from the 2023 season onwards
Sebastian Montoya has joined the Red Bull Junior Team ahead of the new season. Sebastian is the son of former professional racing driver Juan Pablo Montoya. He is set to be a part of the elite Red Bull drivers’ academy and will get the opportunity to represent Red Bull in Formula 3.
In the 2022 season, Sebastian competed for Prema Racing in the 2022 Formula Regional European Championship and the 2022 FIA Formula 3 Championship for Campos Racing. The 17-year-old is the son of Formula One race winner Juan Pablo Montoya and looks up to his father for inspiration. Sebastian has had the experience of driving in F3 Championship, Formula Regional European Championship and Formula 4 so far in his career.
Montoya will be groomed by Helmut Marko at the Red Bull academy, who also happened to mentor his father back in 1997. Marko has been an integral part of the Red Bull driver development program for years now. He turns young racers into world-class Formula One drivers. He has mentored multiple drivers in the Red Bull academy who later went on to become successful F1 drivers including Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo, Carlos Sainz, Alex Albon, Yuki Tsunoda, Pierre Gasly, Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen.
