F1 drivers and staff got first glimpses of Red Bull’s RB19 car at the pitlane ahead of pre-season testing in Bahrain

Red Bull’s RB19 was unveiled only a few hours before the teams took the track on the first day of their pre-season run. Drivers, engineers and other technical staff present in the F1 paddock got their first glimpses of the car at the pitlane in the Bahrain International Circuit during the traditional pre-testing photo shoot on the grid. Aston Martin Team Engineer Mike Krack and new recruit Fernando Alonso were spotted taking a close look at the car in the F1 Technical Forum.

The RB19 has slight modifications from its previous edition overall but the addition of the dramatic sidepods is a major change. One of the most interesting aspects of the RB19’s design is the floor edge, with the team having totally re-imagined it and the edge wing furniture. Two very different-looking winglets kick things off and are arched upwards and outwards to help with the new height restrictions placed on this region of the floor.

“Probably laughing at the opinions in the forum”, joked another fan.

“This confirms my theory that F1 engineers absolutely sneak around on that forum. Some of the discussion on there is a bit too intelligent for it to be just keen fans”, read a comment.

“They aren’t the first ones to do that. Many f1 personnel have said they browse through this forum as this is just another way for them to see what other teams are doing”, commented another fan.

Another fan wrote: “This is one of those photos that’s either going to be insanely accurate or insanely funny in a few months time.”
