Aston Martin F1 team confirms Sebastian Vettel’s availability for the Australian Grand Prix

4-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel missed the first two races of the season in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia due to a positive Covid-19 test

Sebastian Vettel will be back in action after missing out on the first two races. Vettel has recovered from Covid-19 and will be behind the steering for Aston Martin at the Australian Grand Prix. The Australian GP is scheduled to be hosted in Melbourne on 10th April. In Vettel’s absence, Nico Hulkenberg drove for the Aston Martin F1 team in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

Aston Martin F1 team put out an official statement on social media stating, “We are pleased to confirm that Sebastian Vettel is now fit to race and will therefore line up alongside Lance Stroll in Melbourne to kick off his F1 season at the Australian Grand Prix.”

Vettel’s return means Nico Hulkenberg will go back to his role as a reserve driver. Hulkenberg is one of the most experienced drivers presently in the F1 circuit. He made his F1 debut in 2010 and has driven for teams like Force India, Renault, Sauber and Williams. Hulkenberg last drove in F1 in 2020 for Racing Point before replacing Vettel for the opening two races of this season.

What can we look forward to at the Australian Grand Prix?

After two blockbuster weekends, we have a break in F1 calendar this week before things get back to normal with the Australian Grand Prix starting in the second week of April. Things are heating up but we are just getting started – what can we look forward to in Melbourne?

Vettel’s return is confirmed however Schumacher’s return in Melbourne isn’t official yet after the horrific crash in Jeddah. Nonetheless, we do have indications that the driver has recovered and is set to be back doing what he does best!
