The Australian Grand Prix is taking place at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne
The Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne has been hosting the Australian GP continuously since 1996 with the exceptions of 2020 and 2021. This the 25th occasion that Albert Park is hosting he much-awaited Australian Grand Prix. It is a motorsport street circuit around Albert Park Lake, located around three kilometres south of Central Melbourne. The circuit has an FIA grade 1 license. It spans over a total length of 5.278 kilometres with 14 turns. It has the capacity to support a crowd of 80,000 people.
The track is considered to be quite fast and relatively easy to drive. Drivers have explained that the consistent placement of corners allows them to easily adapt to the design and achieve competitive timings.
Sebastian Vettel is the most successful driver at the Albert Park Circuit among the ones on the starting grid this weekend. The 4-time world champion has won the Australian GP in Melbourne three times – 2011, 2017, and 2018. Vettel is closely followed by Lewis Hamilton, who has won it two times – 2018 and 2015.
The most successful driver among those on the grid at Albert Park is Sebastian Vettel and he is out even before we have reached the halfway stage of the race. Carlos Sainz, who has had a great run so far has also been eliminated.
The stage is set for another thrilling and intense Max Verstappen – Charles Leclerc duel. Daniel Ricciardo has been underwhelming so far this season but will be keen to prove a point on home turf. Lewis Hamilton will be desperate to climb up the ladder. Hamilton’s team-mate, George Russell is right up there with the leading pack of the race. With multiple scenarios in the mix, it is certainly a difficult race to call.
We are predicting a close finish with Verstappen coming out on top followed by Leclerc and Hamilton in second and third place respectively. Fernando Alonso, George Russell, and Daniel Ricciardo could potentially round off the top six. Red Bull could potentially get a bit closer to Ferrari in the constructors’ championship after the Australian Grand Prix.
