Austrian GP 2022: Weather forecast – how’s the weather like in Spielberg?

Published by

The Austrian Grand Prix is scheduled to take place from 08-10 July at the picturesque Red Bull Ring circuit – how is the weather there?

The Austrian GP is set for mixed conditions throughout the race weekend. With rain showers forecast for Friday, before staying dry but cloudy on Saturday and Sunday. Highs of 23 degrees Celsius are predicted on Sunday for the start of the race. Almost similar to what we had at the previous race in Silverstone.

Friday is expected to get off to a wet start but the rain should have abated well before the F1 drivers take to the track for the first time. Temperatures are expected to peak at 19 degrees Celsius, although 11mph winds will bring this down.

The day of the F1 sprint will see the best weather of the weekend with temperatures rising to 23 degrees Celsius, the wind dropping to just 8mph and the threat of rain minimal. The warmest part of the day also coincides with the start of the Sprint at 16:30 local time, meaning conditions should be optimal for racing.

The only thing that is certain about Sunday is that it will rain at some point during the day. The threat varies from 20-50 per cent across the day but in good news for teams, the higher chance of rain is in the morning. Wind again remains around the 8mph mark and temperatures will hit 23 degrees Celsius.
