The Austrian Grand Prix is scheduled to take place from 08-10 July at the picturesque Red Bull Ring circuit

The 41st edition of the Austrian GP is set to take place this weekend at one of the most scenic venues of the F1 calendar – the Red Bull Ring Circuit. The Austrian GP was first held in 1964 and has been a part of the F1 calendar in intervals till 2003. It made a comeback to the calendar in 2014 and has been a constant feature since then.

The Red Bull Ring is a motorsport race track in Spielberg, Austria. The race circuit was founded as Osterreichring and hosted the Austrian Grand Prix for eighteen consecutive years, from 1970 to 1987. It was later shortened, rebuilt and renamed the A1-Ring (A Eins-Ring), and it hosted the Austrian Grand Prix again from 1997 to 2003.

Renamed the Red Bull Ring the track was reopened on 15 May 2011. Formula One returned to the circuit in the 2014 season. The Red Bull Ring circuit spans over a length of 4.318 km, comprising a total of 10 turns. It is an FIA Grade-1 licensed circuit.

In the United States, fans can catch the action on the ESPN Network. Viewers in the UK can watch every session from the start of the first practice session to the end of the race on Sky Sports. In India, the qualifying session and main race will be broadcast live on Star Sports. All practice sessions, qualifying sessions and the main race can be streamed live on Disney+Hotstar.

Who are the favourites for this weekend’s race?

Another intense Verstappen – Leclerc duel is on the cards in Austria. The Ferrari driver has to step up and push for a win if he has to cover the gap at the top of the drivers’ championship. The ever-consistent Sergio Perez and George Russell are certainly in contention for a podium finish along with the British GP winner Carlos Sainz.

All eyes will also certainly be on Lewis Hamilton, who is back in form with consecutive podium finishes.
