Bernie Ecclestone is a British business magnate and the former chief executive of Formula One
Bernie_Ecclestone took Formula One from a niche racing competition to a global phenomenon over a four-decade career. The man dubbed “F1 Supremo” by the British tabloids finally gave up the helm in January 2017, when Liberty Media bought F1 for $4.4 billion. Ecclestone’s estimated net worth as of 2022 is US$ 3 billion.
Ecclestone was named the fourth-richest person in the United Kingdom in 2011, with a net worth of $4.2 billion at the time. The drop in his net worth is most likely due to a recent divorce settlement that left his ex-wife Slavica Ecclestone with a reputed $1 billion to $1.5 billion. He has two daughters with Slavica Ecclestone, a former Armani model: Petra and Tamara Ecclestone, who are both notable socialites, models, and businesswomen.
Bernie is best known as the founder and former CEO of the Formula One Group, a corporation that owns and operates Formula One racing. He still owns the sport’s commercial rights, making him the de-facto “boss” of Formula One. Outside of Formula One, Ecclestone was the owner of Queens Park Rangers, a British football team, from 2007 to 2011.
Bernie Ecclestone has a huge empire of his own
Ecclestone has built a property empire across the globe and previously owned an astonishing home in Kensington Park Gardens, London. The Bernie Ecclestone house in Kensington Park Gardens overlooked the mansion where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stayed, before dropping their royal titles.
Since his ousting by Liberty Media, Ecclestone has relocated to Switzerland and calls a £23 million ski chalet his ‘home’. The Bernie Ecclestone house has been part of the family for the past 20 years. It had high-profile neighbors in Italian fashion designer Valentino and director Roman Polanski.
The former F1 supremo has a habit of traveling in style and reportedly owns a fleet of private jets and a private yacht. Amongst his prized possessions is the Dassault Falcon 7X, worth a massive £40 million. The jet seats 12 passengers, ensuring uncompromising cabin comfort, and has a range of 5,950 nautical miles. Ecclestone also owns a £30 million yacht ‘Petara’, named after his two daughters Petra and Tamara. Petara can accommodate 12 guests and has a spacious modern interior. It was designed by Studio Celeste Dell’Anna and flaunts a cruise speed of 16 knots.
