Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton will start Sunday’s race from seventh place on the grid
Lewis Hamilton had an average outing during the qualifying session in Bahrain but has vowed to come back strong in the main race later today. Hamilton finished seventh in qualifying, one place behind his team-mate George Russell. The British driver was over sixth tenths of a second behind pole-sitter Max Verstappen and will have a lot of catching up to do during the main race.
Hamilton uploaded a story on Instagram, with the text: “Better Tomorrow”, indicating that he will give it his all during the race today. The seven-time World Champion also has the backing of his team boss Toto Wolff, who has stated on record that Hamilton can go on to win a record 8th F1 World Championship title this season. It remains to be seen if Hamilton and his Mercedes W14 can challenge the Red Bull duo of Verstappen and Perez over the course of this season.

Lewis Hamilton’s quest for a record 8th F1 World Championship title begins today. The Bahrain International Circuit has always been a good venue for the British driver and Hamilton will be hoping he can get off to a positive start. Hamilton is the most successful driver in the history of the Bahrain GP with five titles to his name. Sebastian Vettel, who retired at the end of last season, has won it four times. When it comes to the current grid, Fernando Alonso is the most successful active driver after Hamilton, with three wins. The last time it was held in 2022, Charles Leclerc stood on top of the podium followed by Sainz and Hamilton.
Mercedes boss and CEO Toto Wolff is confident that the W-14 car can help Hamilton create history this season. Wolff has stated that the team will do ‘everything’ to help Hamilton realise his dream of winning the title this year. “We’re going to get his eighth. Even if I have to push him around the track to win the eighth I am going to do everything that is needed”, said Wolff, despite not having a great display during qualification.
