Arthur Leclerc is currently driving for Prema racing team in FIA Formula 3 Championship
Arthur Leclerc could very well be promoted from F3 to F2 next season. As per rumours, the younger Leclerc could race for F2 team DAMS in 2023, replacing Roy Nissany. 21-year-old Arthur has notched up three race wins along with five podium finishes so far in his brief F3 career.
In July this year, Arthur was in the news after pulling off his first win of the 2022 Formula 3 season, seeing off home favourites Zak O’Sullivan and Ollie Bearman for victory in the Feature Race at Silverstone. The Monegasque picked up PREMA Racing’s first win to bring himself back into Championship contention. He had already passed O’Sullivan but was forced to give back the lead due to the move coming just as the Safety Car was deployed. Leclerc re-passed pole-sitter O’Sullivan shortly afterwards and held off the threats from behind to move up to second in the Drivers’ Championship.
However, he did have some mediocre races after that and finished the season in sixth place.
The rumours of Arthur Leclerc going up to F2 next season are strong and fans are visibly excited on social media. Let us take a look at some of the reactions.
“If it’s true, congrats to Arthur. He has talent, his races where he went through the field were impressive, he just needed two things imo: 1. One lap pace to start at better positions and 2. tactical driving. He still attacked when his rivals were behind him, crashed and lost pts”, wrote a fan.
“I really like Arthur but this is pretty weirdHe is not a great driverIf he gets a place in F2 then let’s be honestIt’s because of his name”, wrote another fan.
“All it takes is a surname, great to see”, wrote a troll.
“So happy for him and wish more luck”, read another tweet.
“So they replaced Nissany with a quicker version of himself”, tweeted another fan.
