Lewis Hamilton put on a show picking up his first pole of the 2023 season at the Hungarian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton threw the form guide right out of the window by snatching pole at the last in the 2023 F1 Hungarian Grand Prix.

The 7-time World Champion beat Max Verstappen to pole with the tiniest of margins, just 0.003 seconds. This was the first pole for the British star since the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in 2021.

Hamilton had a tough 2022 season as Verstappen picked up another World Driver’s title. However, the playing field seems to be a little more even after upgrades to the McLaren team and even to Hamilton’s Mercedes.

Many fans celebrated wildly as Hamilton also picked up his ninth pole at the circuit. Another Brit was also pleased with Hamilton’s pole position, Elle Brooke. The OnlyFans star and boxer was chuffed to see Hamilton get the pole position, but fans claimed that Verstappen would get the win easily.

An exciting Hungarian Grand Prix on the card?

While Verstappen has dominated the 2023 F1 and looks on course for a hat-trick of driver’s titles, other cars are catching up.

The McLarens looked great in the previous race at the British Grand Prix where Lando Norris came in second. His teammate, Oscar Piastri came fourth and the McLaren pair are lined up third and fourth on the grid.

Hungary is known to be a notoriously difficult track to overtake on, and Hamilton could spoil Verstappen’s hopes of winning a seventh consecutive race this season.

The McLarens also have had some great starts off the grid this season, which could make things difficult for Verstappen as he would be on the dirty side of the starting lines.

There could also be some surprises down the grid as George Russell stars 18th in a Mercedes after his qualifying was hampered due to traffic. Carlos Sainz is another to keep an eye on as the Spaniard stars 11th in his Ferrari.

This promises to be an exciting race given the actual pace of the Red Bulls, Mercedes and McLarens.
