F1 returns this weekend after a short break, moving on to Melbourne for the Australian Grand Prix – Race calendar this year
Formula 1 is back this weekend following a short break after two enthralling races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. It’s pretty early in the season but as things stand, Ferrari leads the constructors’ championship with 78 points, way ahead of Mercedes (38) and Red Bull (37) in second and third place respectively. In the drivers’ championship leaderboard, the Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz occupy the top two spots ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. Let us take a look at the rest of the schedule for this year, starting from this weekend.
F1 moves on to Europe after this weekend, starting with the historical Emilio Romagna Grand Prix in Italy followed by the Miami Grand Prix in the U.S.A before it comes back to Europe once again with the Spanish and Monaco Grand Prix in May. After a break of two weeks, it then moves on to Azerbaijan followed by the Canadian and the British Grand Prix.
Starting with the British GP, we have a series of races in Europe – Austria, France, Hungary, Belgium, Netherlands before we come back to Italy for the second time for the race at Monza. The Russian Grand Prix which was originally scheduled to take place after the Italian GP has been officially cancelled and so we will move on directly to Asia for the Singapore and Japanese Grand Prix. F1 then moves on to the Americas, starting with the U.S.A hosting their second race of the season followed by Mexico and Brazil. The season ends in November with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the Yas Marina Circuit.
As F1 resumes this weekend, let us take a look at what’s in store for us in Melbourne. The burning topic seems to be – will Hamilton get his season back on track? The Brit is aiming for a record eighth F1 championship title after narrowly missing out last season. However, it has been an underwhelming start to the new season and some things definitely need to change if he has to stay in the title.
Fans are loving the Leclerc-Verstappen rivalry and will we be treated to another intense duel in Melbourne? We certainly hope so.
There are lots of other aspects to look forward to but the potential return of Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher is what we are waiting for! Vettel’s return is confirmed however Schumacher’s return in Melbourne isn’t official yet after the horrific crash in Jeddah. Nonetheless, we do have indications that the driver has recovered set to be back doing what he does best!
