The Bahrain Grand Prix is scheduled to take place from 3rd March to 5th March at the Bahrain International Circuit
Formula One is back this weekend and it promises to be an enthralling season. Bahrain is set to host the opening race of the season once again and this is the 19th edition of this historic Grand Prix. Bahrain made its debut in the Formula One calendar back in 2004 and was the first Formula One Grand Prix to be held in the Middle East. This edition of the Bahrain GP is scheduled to take place from 3rd to 5th March at the Bahrain International Circuit.
The Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir has been the home of the Bahrain Grand Prix since its inaugural season in 2004. It is one of the few F1 circuits to be awarded the distinguished FIA Institute Centre of Excellence award.
The award was given for its excellent safety, race marshal, medical facilities and high standard of its infrastructure. It is an FIA Grade I licensed circuit with a crowd capacity of 70,000.
Lewis Hamilton is the most successful driver in the history of the Japanese Grand Prix with a record six wins to his name. Ferrari are the most successful constructor, having registered seven wins in this GP. Michael Schumacher’s lap timing of 1:30.252, while driving a Ferrari F2004 in the 2004 Bahrain Grand Prix is the official race lap record at this GP.
The countdown to the new F1 season has begun and teams have had the taste of their new cars and drivers’ during the Pre-Season test in Bahrain. The 2023 F1 grid will see a number of new faces but we will certainly miss four-time World Champion, Sebastian Vettel, who decided to retire at the end of the 2022 season. The new season will officially begin on March 5 at the Bahrain International Circuit and all the teams are now focusing on their final adjustments.
There will be three debutants in the F1 grid this season – Nyck de Vries (Alpha Tauri), Oscar Piastri (McLaren) and Logan Sargeant (Williams). We will also see the full-time return of Nico Hulkenberg for the first time since 2019, who has replaced Mick Schumacher at Haas. Meanwhile, Aston Martin has roped in two-time World Champion, Fernando Alonso to fill the spot vacated by the retiring Sebastian Vettel.
McLaren has brought in Oscar Piastri after Alonso’s departure from the team. Yuki Tsunoda has moved on to Alpha Tauri while Alpine have signed Esteban Ocon to partner Gasly in the Japanese driver’s place. Nicholas Latifi, Mick Schumacher and Daniel Ricciardo are unfortunately missing out and won’t be a full-time part of the F1 grid this season.
