After three enthralling races in F1 2022 so far, we look forward to the potential fantasy game-changers in Imola
We had a roller-coaster start to the season but we finally seem to have some stability going into the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix with Leclerc looking immensely reliable although there are still question marks over Max Verstappen and Red Bull’s consistency this season. Lewis Hamilton’s performances have really affected fantasy teams.
Hamilton is a part of most of our fantasy teams but after back to back underwhelming performances in Jeddah and Bahrain, he showed some promise finishing fourth in Melbourne. Can we continue to keep faith in him or is it time to replace him? What about Charles Leclerc? The most consistent driver of the season, is it worth using a chip on him so early? Which constructor seems to be the safest bet going forward – Ferrari or Mercedes or Red Bull?
We have got the answers you’re looking for and we’re back after a break with your weekly dose of F1 Fantasy!
Either Verstappen or Leclerc is a must in your team. Kevin Magnussen started as a great budget pick with the Haas driver following up his P5 finish with a P9 in Saudi Arabia. However, there seems to be a dip in form and you might have to look for alternative options like Esteban Ocon and Alexander Albon. Ferrari certainly is the safest bet when it comes to the single constructor slot with Mercedes clearly struggling and Red Bull has a lot of catch up to do.
You will get three free substitutions ahead of the Grand Prix. Use them to bring in drivers you feel will do well in Imola. If you don’t have Leclerc yet, just get him in! Verstappen or Leclerc is a must in your team and you can build your team around them. If that requires you to remove Lewis Hamilton, we would suggest you go ahead and do that. Carlos Sainz or Sergio Perez is a good cover for your marquee driver. Specifically for the Emilia Romagno Grand Prix, doubling up on Ferrari seems like a really good prospect. We suggest you have both Leclerc and Sainz in your team this week.
Is it time yet to use your powerups or streak? Our answer generally would be a ‘No’. Save it for the future, it’s a marathon, not a sprint. However, you could take the early risk this week to use a power up on Leclerc or Sainz primarily because they will be driving on home turf and have looked really comfortable so far this season.
The most important part is – Remember to save and submit your teams before the deadline which is the qualifying on Saturday evening.
