Jost Capito has resigned from his post as Team Principal of Williams F1 team along with technical director FX Demaison
Williams F1 team has officially announced that team principal and chief executive, Jost Capito, will resign from his post before the 2023 Formula One season. The 64-year-old German has led the team for the past two years. Besides Capito, technical director François-Xavier Demaison will also leave his post.
In his official statement, Capito said: “It has been a huge privilege to lead Williams Racing for the last two seasons and to lay the foundations for the turnaround of this great team. I look forward to watching the team as it continues on its path to future success.” Williams also released a statement, thanking Capito for his contribution to the team over the last two years. “We would like to thank Jost for his hard work and dedication as we embarked on a major transformation process to begin the journey of reviving Williams Racing”, the statement read.
Let us take a look at some of the reactions from fans on Twitter.
“Funny! Jost wanted the role because he liked politics like he did in VW however it was overwhelmed with all the stuff behind the scenes! it is no secret that Dorlington Capital just want to make it profit and not bring back Williams to the top spots!”, wrote a fan.
“Williams are absolutely determined to languish in P10 until there are no investors left. Spend two years redefining the team culture and bin it all because they don’t understand what’s intrinsically wrong with the team”, tweeted another fan.
“Capito was a good manager. I thought he would have done well given time. Very interesting to see where next”, read a tweet.
“Jost Capito is retiring. Considering Williams scored points in an underperforming car that’s better then zero points”, trolled another fan.
Another fan wrote: “Jost Capito was the best part of that team, their loss.”
