Pau Gasol is a two-time NBA Champion with the Los Angeles Lakers – Fernando Alonso lauded him after his jersey retirement
Pau Gasol’s No.16 jersey was retired by Los Angeles Lakers in an emotional ceremony during the match between Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday. The ceremony was attended by a number of Lakers dignitaries including Vanessa Bryant, the widow of legend Kobe Bryant.
Gasol is an NBA legend and served Los Angeles Lakers with utmost dedication over the years and retirement of his No.16 jersey is a well-deserved honour for the Spaniard.
Congratulatory messages poured in for Gasol on social media after the overwhelmed player put out a tweet: “Still processing it all. What a wonderful night. I鈥檒l never forget it. Thank you all so much for all the love!!” F1 legend and fellow Spanish star Fernando Alonso also congratulated Gasol, rightfully labelling him a ‘Legend’. Alonso and Gasol are two of the brightest icons in the history of Spanish sports.

He is certainly one of the greatest drivers in the sport and would look to reach new heights at Aston Martin, during what possibly is the final lap of his F1 career.
