Williams driver George Russell has come out to praise his team’s efforts for their sustainability strategy which aims to help sustain the environment and it’s resources for future generations. Russell responded to a tweet by Williams Racing in which he said:
“Proud of the team for setting these ambitious but essential sustainability targets. We all have a role to play in safeguarding the future of our people and our planet.”
Russell has vouched for his team’s effort for attempting to safeguard the future of the planet. He also expressed that it is a responsibility that everyone should take and commit themselves to.
What exactly is the Williams Racing sustainable strategy?
Williams have announced their sustainable strategy recently which is based around five key areas. Purpose driven leadership, biodiversity stewardship, climate action, sustainable innovation and industry access for all.
Williams aims to become climate positive by the year 2030 and the strategy aims to tackle key environmental and societal challenges that the motorsport business and the world faces. The strategies have been developed over the course of the last one year. They have been aligned with UN climate change agenda.
Moreover, the 12 out of 17 UN developmental goals are aligned with the team’s strategies. Williams is one of the most successful teams in the F1 and such a major step has garnered them praise from everywhere. The team has also gained FIA three star environmental accreditation.
A step like this will certainly prove to be very impactful not only in the F1 world but outside of it too.
