Max Verstappen cruised to victory on home turf at the Dutch GP to create another new record
Max Verstappen won the Dutch Formula 1 Grand Prix ahead of Mercedes’ George Russell & Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. With this win, Verstappen has now won 10 of this season’s 15 races. It was his 72nd podium finish & he collected 26 points from this race. Verstappen won the Dutch GP in 2021 as well. He has now won a total of 30 races, making the 24-year-old the sixth fastest man in F1 history to achieve this feat.
Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost and Lewis Hamilton occupy the top five spots in order of this elite list which Verstappen is now a part of.
As of the 2022 Dutch Grand Prix, Verstappen has achieved 30 victories and 17 pole positions. He scored the first hat-trick of his career at the 2021 French Grand Prix and his first grand slam at the 2021 Austrian Grand Prix. He scored his second grand slam at the 2022 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
Hamilton, Vettel, Verstappen and Alonso are the only drivers from the current grid who have achieved 30 race wins or more in their F1 career.
“Greatest driver since Schumacher”, wrote a super excited fan.
“And remember Max only got a regular race winning car in 2021. In 16/17/18/19/20 – the Red Bull was not as competitive as it was in 21/22 – yet Max still won races each year”, tweeted another fan.
“Lot more races per year to get this done, drivers 30 or 40+ years ago would of had to of driven for twice as many years to be able to get that amount of races in.These stats only make sense when you use percentages”, read another tweet.
“Given that there are only 8 drivers who have ever won 30 or more grand prix being the 6th fastest is not particularly impressive”, wrote another fan.
“And Schumacher did that without having the outright fastest car. Absolute genius and the best ever”, tweeted another fan.
