Haas F1 team unveiled their new VF-22 car in Barcelona for the 2022-23 season
Haas are currently having their pre-season camp in Barcelona. The team’s drivers unveiled their new VF-22 car in the pit lane. Haas will be hoping the newly designed car will provide better results.
The team earned no points last season and finished 10th in the Constructors’ Championship. Haas have retained their drivers from last season, Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin.
What’s new in the VF-22?
The VF-22 is the new generation F1 car designed to comply with new regulations. It has simplified aerodynamics, 18-inch wheels and is a bit heavier than F1 cars of the last era.
The striking changes from last year are the design and shapes of the side pods and wings. The side pods bulge out far but bend back in toward the driver to a relatively small air intake design. The wings are both reshaped with the front wing designed to include massive vertical endplates. The rear wing is built into a new one-piece design that blends traditional endplates and wing elements together.
What’s in store for Haas this season?
Haas will be hoping for a real change of fortunes this season. They have put in their all to modify their car and make it competitive. The team has shown faith in their drivers from last season Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin. The two drivers made their F1 debuts in the 2021 Championship and combined for a total of zero points thereby occupying the last spot.
Haas made their F1 debut in the 2016 Australian Grand Prix. Their best-ever finish in the Constructors’ standings in 5th in the 2018 Championship. If they are to finish anywhere near 5th this season, they will have to massively rely on their drivers. The team will hope the drivers inculcated enough experience from last season and will put up an improved performance in the 2022 Formula One World Championship.
