Perez started the season strongly, with four podium finishes in the opening seven races – including a victory in Monaco. But since then, he has finished second twice and recorded two DNFs in the last six races, while in that period his teammate Verstappen has won four races. However, the Mexican is confident that he can still challenge for the title.

Fans react to Sergio Perez’s high ambitions on Twitter

Sergio Perez’s statements have received mixed reactions from fans on Twitter. Let us take a look at few of the most interesting responses.

“Hey Siri, show me the definition of “denial”, wrote a fan, clearly on top of his banter game.

“Good to hear him say that but as we’ve seen he simply can’t match Max for pace”, wrote another fan.

“You can always hope. It’s only 85 points. Some Lewis fans are convinced Lewis can overcome those 112 points and win the title”, joked another fan.

“Well it’s true.. he is not out unless he is mathematically out..And I am quite sure we will be looking at a Sergio Perez title charge”, tweeted a fan, one of the very few ones back Perez at the moment.

“You don’t dream about world championship if u r beaten by your teammate by a huge margin race after race”, read another tweet.

“As much as I support Checo, I think that it is game over for the championship. Still P2 in the driver’s standings and winning the constructor’s at the end of 2022 will be a big achievement in my book. Never give up boy!”, tweeted a Perez fan.
