The Azerbaijan Grand Prix will take place on 10th – 12th June at the Baku City Circuit

Sebastian Vettel has been quite impressive in the brief history of the Azerbaijan GP. Vettel has driven in all the four editions of the Grand Prix in Baku. However, the German driver has never won the Azerbaijan GP to date despite good performances.

In the inaugural edition of the GP in 2017, Sebastian Vettel set the fastest lap timing of 1:43.441. Vettel, who was then driving for Ferrari, eventually finished 4th. In 2018, Vettel took pole position in qualifying but finished fourth once again and couldn’t make it to the podium.

The 4-time World Champion got his first podium finish in 2019, securing a third-place finish. The 2020 edition of the Azerbaijan GP was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2021, Vettel, who was driving for Aston Martin, finished second – the best finish so far of his career at the Azerbaijan GP.

Who is the most successful driver at the Azerbaijan GP?

No driver has won the Grand Prix twice since its inaugural edition in 2017. In the last edition, Red Bull’s Sergio Perez finished on top of the podium followed by Sebastian Vettel and Pierre Gasly. Valtteri Bottas (2019), Lewis Hamilton (2018), and Daniel Ricciardo (2017) are the winners of the previous editions.
