The season-ending Abu Dhabi GP will be the final race of Sebastian Vettel’s illustrious F1 career
Sebastian Vettel wants to be remembered as someone who is “kind” after he retires from the sport this weekend. Vettel is heading to the final race of his F1 career, this weekend in Abu Dhabi. He had earlier announced that he will retire from Formula 1 at the end of the 2022 season.
The 35-year-old German spent six seasons with Ferrari after joining the Italian team in 2015 and is set to retire as an Aston Martin driver. Vettel is currently third on the list of all-time Grand Prix winners with 53 victories, trailing only Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher.
“People can remember how many races and championships I’ve won but I would rather be remembered that I’ve been kind, attentive and just me”, said Vettel. After making his debut in 2007, Vettel has achieved remarkable feats in F1 and has certainly established himself as an all time legend of the sport.
Let us take a look at some of the reactions to Vettel’s statement by fans on Twitter.
“Even better after he left and showed us what matters to him as a person rather than just a driver pushing to win all the time. He’s shown what an awesome human being he is these past few years and rightly earned much respect and admiration”, wrote a fan.
“He will be remembered for that. Seb became the dad of F1”, tweeted another fan.
“And Verstappen will only be remembered as a fraud with illegal championships”, read a tweet from a troll.
“we will definitely remember it, seb. it’s hard not to think of it when we think about you”, wrote another fan.
“I’m not ashamed to admit I’m going to be genuinely emotional as he crosses the line. F1 is losing one of the special ones with Seb”, read another tweet.
