Here’s everything you need to know regarding the regulations on consumption of alcohol at the British Grand Prix
F1 fans visiting Silverstone for the British GP will be relieved to know that they will be able to consume alcohol while enjoying the action on the track. Alcohol was banned in five races of the season so far – Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Barcelona and Austria. There are no such restrictions at Silverstone.
While you can certainly enjoy alcohol at the Silverstone Circuit, there are some important regulations and guidelines that the visiting fans need to keep in mind.
Fans attending the race can purchase alcohol and beer from outlets located within the Silverstone Circuit. While most venues on the F1 calendar restrict the entry of alcoholic beverages from outside, the British GP provides considerable freedom in that aspect. Fans will be permitted to bring a reasonable amount of alcohol into the venue for personal consumption. This will be limited to one bottle of wine, 6 cans of beer (500ml), or 6 cans of premixed aperitifs per person. However, bottles of spirits or fortified wines will not be allowed at the venue.
Sunny and warm conditions are set to welcome F1 teams and fans to the Silverstone Circuit for the British Grand Prix but it is expected to get cloudy and overcast as the weekend progresses. The temperature in Silverstone at this time of year is very pleasant but heavy showers are an usual sight. It is predicted to remain overcast throughout the weekend and heavy showers are expected especially on Sunday. There is a moderate chance of rainfall on Saturday as well.
The practice sessions on Friday are likely to remain sunny and hot with no chance of rainfall. Temperatures will be on the cooler side and there are chances of heavy rainfall during the qualifying session on Saturday. There are 80% chances of showers on Sunday as well, which happens to be the race day.
Weather is not in anyone’s control and it remains to be seen how things turn out. Teams will have to keep their wet tyres ready for sure and visiting fans should carry necessary equipment to protect them from rain.
