Over the years, the Schumacher family has been criticised for being secretive about the ex-racing star’s state of being. The hashtag ‘Keep Fighting Michael’ has emerged as the unanimous voice of the fans as they attempt to stay close to the racing star as much as possible. Schumacher had suffered his horrific injury while skiing in the Alps back in 2013. Despite wearing a skiing helmet, he suffered catastrophic injuries. Schumacher was rushed to hospital and kept in a coma. He hasn’t been able to recover fully since the incident.

Michael Schumacher’s family launched the ‘Keep Fighting’ Foundation in 2016

Schumacher’s family launched the Keep Fighting Foundation at the end of 2016 with the purpose of charity work, which had always been of utmost importance to Michael when he was fit. After Michael’s accident, fans continue to use the hashtags KeepFighting and KeepFightingMichael to encourage him and his family. The hashtags quickly spread worldwide and when Schumacher was hospitalised, Michael’s wife Corinna drove to visit him in the hospital in Lausanne and everyday she would notice a #KeepFighting graffito on one of the motorway bridges. This gesture from the fans inspired her to launch the Keep Fighting Foundation.
