Kevin Magnussen had a commendable 2022 season with Haas after replacing Russia’s Nikita Mazepin
Haas F1 driver Kevin Magnussen has become the latest recipient of the prestigious Lorenzo Bandini trophy. The trophy is an annual award honouring the achievements of an individual or team in Formula One motor racing. Denmark’s Kevin Magnussen won this edition’s award for his exploits with Haas in the 2022 F1 season.
Magnussen joined Haas as a replacement driver, in place of Nikita Mazepin and has gone on to make his spot permanent . He replaced Mazepin after the Russian was removed by the team following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In his first race for Haas at Bahrain, Magnussen managed to start 7th and finish 5th, scoring one of only five top five finishes in Haas’s history up to that point.
His fortunes continued in the 2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix where he made it into Q3 and qualified tenth. He later turned that into a ninth-place finish, securing Haas consecutive points for the first time since 2019.However, his form dipped from there on for the remainder of the season but his performances were good enough to win him the prestigious Lorenzo Bandini trophy.
