Kimi Raikkonen has tested positive for Covid-19 and will not be in action at Zandvoort this weekend
In a recent report released by the Alpha Romeo Team, It is revealed that Kimi Raikkonen tested positive for Covid-19 and will miss out on the 2021 Dutch GP.
The 2007 World champion has been sent to self isolation and is in good condition. Kimi had no symptoms of the virus.
The positive test has disappointed many fans around the world. As this would’ve been the first and the last time Kimi would’ve raced on the Zandvoort circuit.
Alpha Romeo have announced that Robert Kubica will take the place of the 2007 World champion. Robert Kubica will take hold of the car number 88 in his race where he replaces Kimi. Robert most probably will also get the chance to take part and race at the Italian Grand Prix set to take place next weekend.
Kimi Raikkonen to retire at the end of the season
Raikkonen earlier revealed that he will be retiring at the end of the 2021 season. He also revealed that he made this decision during the winter of last year. He hopes to explore the world outside of racing.
The positive test of Kimi means that he will miss out on next week’s Italian Grand Prix as well. This means that the Ferrari fans would miss out on the chance to bid farewell to their 2007 World champion at their home circuit.
Raikkonen remains one of the most entertaining characters in the paddock, and his hilarious radio messages will be missed next season.
