Kimi Raikkonen is back in NASCAR with Trackhouse Racing and will be in action at the Circuit of the Americas. The 2007 F1 World Champion competed in NASCAR last season too, at the Watkins Glen automobile track. Raikkonen has joined Trackhouse Racing as a part of its ‘Project 91’, a program designed to expand the team’s international reach by fielding a NASCAR Cup Series entry for renowned international racing drivers.

Raikkonen is understandably excited to be a part of this ambitious project. “I’m sure there are a lot of drivers that would like to have a chance to try NASCAR. It’s not very easy, so maybe it will open some doors in the future for more chances to try and get more Europeans into the sport”, he said. The veteran racer is not new to NASCAR himself and has the experience of racing in a Xfinity Series race and a Truck Series race for Kyle Busch Motorsports in 2011.
