Lewis Hamilton doesn’t support IOC’s decision on Black Lives Matter gear during Olympics

The 2020 Olympics are a few days away but the IOC has taken a stance on Black Lives Matter gears and protests during the games

Lewis Hamilton has been one of the sportspeople to push the Black Lives Matter protest into the main stream.

The seven-time World Champion also got most of his F1 rivals to speak about the racism that others are meted out in the world and even F1 has started campaigns regarding how equality should be practiced all around the world.

Last week saw a ban from most of the racers on their social media accounts. This was done to hold the likes of Twitter and Facebook accountable for their lack of action in dealing with online abuse and racism.

Hamilton has done a lot of great work in helping preach unity and equality over the years, but he was left unhappy with one decision by the International Olympic Committee.

The IOC decided that during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics any stars wearing Black Lives Matter apparel would be handed down punishment.

This also means that stars cannot use the platform to take a knee or raise a fist, something that has been done in the Olympics previously. Hamilton shared a clipping of this story on his Instagram account and even put a thumbs down on all this.

Lewis Hamilton wins a Laureus award for his Black Lives Matter work and more

Hamilton has done a lot of work when it comes to the Black Lives Matter movement and was part of several demonstrations and rallies recently.

The British star was also awarded by Laureus recently and he shared his thoughts on being the Athlete Advocate of the Year.

It is a little surprising that the IOC has taken this decision regarding the movement. Many other tournaments haven’t been so strict regarding this with Naomi Osaka often wearing special masks to come out in support of those who have been killed in attacks by the police.

The Premier League in England sees all players and referees take a knee before games, and Hamilton has every right to be upset at this kind of censorship in the 2020 Olympics.
