Lewis Hamilton opted to stay back in Australia despite the cancellation of the season-opener
Lewis Hamilton urged fans and followers to stay safe as the coronavirus pandemic continues to claim lives.
With concerns rising across the world due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, the authorities were forced to cancel the event just hours before the start of the free practice.
Though the sudden decision left many drivers including Hamilton gutted at first, they have all reconciled to the fact and have urged fans to ensure complete safety.
Despite the concerns, Hamilton chose to stick around as he posted pictures of himself doing indoor rock climbing.
The 35-year-old Hamilton could be seen making the best of his free time by involving in a climbing session in Melbourne.
Gutted to not be qualifying today. I decided to stick around Melbourne and go indoor rock climbing. It鈥檚 a great way for me to keep focused.

Hamilton had on Friday backed the authority鈥檚 decision to cancel the event by posting a few words on his Twitter page.
The Brit was aiming for a seventh driver’s title this season, but that has been put on hold for now.
Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen not taking any chances
Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen were not ready to take any chances either.
The former Ferrari teammates decided to take matters into their own hands. They decided to leave after McLaren pulled out of the tournament due to a team member testing positive for Coronavirus.
Max Verstappen of Red Bull also added his name to the list of early departees.
