Sebastian Vettel’s retirement this year means that Lewis Hamilton’s experience and achievements (wins) will be unmatched in the F1 grid of 2023
Lewis Hamilton‘s achievements and experience will be unparalleled next season after Vettel retires from F1 at the end of 2022. Hamilton currently has the highest number of race wins – 103, ahead of Michael Schumacher’s 91 and Sebastian Vettel’s 53. In 2023, the F1 grid is likely to have drivers with 98 wins combined, five less than Hamilton as things stand.
After Vettel’s retirement, Hamilton’s closest rivals in terms of race wins and be Max Verstappen (34) and Fernando Alonso (32). Valtteri Bottas with 10 wins is a distant fourth in next season’s potential drivers’ grid followed by Charles Leclerc (5) and Sergio Perez (4). Seven-time world champion Hamilton will also have more world titles than the rest of the grid in 2023.
Sebastian Vettel will retire from F1 as an all-time legend
Sebastian Vettel is heading to the final race of his F1 career, this weekend in Abu Dhabi. He had earlier announced that he will retire from Formula 1 at the end of the 2022 season. The 35-year-old German spent six seasons with Ferrari after joining the Italian team in 2015, and is set to retire as an Aston Martin driver. Vettel is currently third on the list of all-time Grand Prix winners with 53 victories, trailing only Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher.
“The decision to retire has been a difficult one for me to take, and I have spent a lot of time thinking about it,” said Vettel, who confirmed his retirement mid-way through the season in a video posted on Instagram. After making his debut in 2007, Vettel has achieved remarkable feats in F1 and has certainly established himself as an all time legend of the sport.
