Max Verstappen had to use the shoes of Sergio Perez during the first practice session at the Azerbaijan GP
Formula One championship leader Max Verstappen had to change gear ahead of the first practice session at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The Dutch youngster was forced to use the shoes of Sergio Perez, his teammate, after a bit of a mix-up.
Verstappen also posted about the shoes online and explained that there was a bit of a mix up which led to the switch.
Verstappen normally wears orange shoes but using the yellow ones wasn鈥檛 slowing him down. He was fastest in the first practice session but he claimed that the shoes were a little smelly, taking a shot at his teammate.
Max Verstappen looking to carry his form in Baku
The youngster is leading the F1 championship by four points in front of Lewis Hamilton. Verstappen has been in great form this year and already has two wins to his name.
He won the Monaco GP with Hamilton not even coming in the top five. This is another chance for Verstappen to extend his lead with the Red Bull package looking great.
The Dutch youngster was fastest in the first practice session but the real test will be on Saturday during qualifying.
Verstappen has never been on the podium in Baku but he has promised to create some history ahead of the race.
Verstappen does have to be a little wary of the threat possessed by Hamilton. The defending champion was out of sorts in Monaco but so was the rest of the Mercedes team.
They even botched a pitstop of Valtteri Bottas and saw the Finn retire. Bottas should have finished on the podium but his retirement was a gain for Lando Norris who got third.
The Ferraris could be a threat too in this race as Carlos Sainz finished second in Monaco. Charles Leclerc got pole in the Principality but couldn鈥檛 start the race due to a gearbox problem.
