The father of Max Verstappen opens up on his relationship with Toto Wolff
This year’s Formula One championship has turned out to be like no other, Red Bull and Mercedes have gone against each other both on and off the track. With the two teams going at it, the father of Max Verstappen has also joined the battle.
While recently speaking to Daily Mail, Jos Verstappen took shots at Mercedes boss Toto Wolff. Jos revealed that the two have had mutual respect since Wolff had talked about bringing Verstappen to Mercedes during the early days of his career, however, their relationship deetiolated after this year’s clash at Silverstone. Take a look at what Jos said about his relationship with Wolff:
“It is not there any more I don’t like his attitude. I don’t like how he behaved, starting at Silverstone. One of the drivers was in hospital and they are on the podium celebrating as if they’ve won the world championship. I didn’t think Toto was like that but I learned about a different Wolff. We didn’t have any contact from him, any message or whatever. And to think he had spoken to us in the new year: I am not saying he was trying to bring Max over at that stage, but let’s say we had a good relationship before Silverstone.”
Jos has publicly lashed out at Wolff following his change in attitude lately. It is safe to say that the only thing that could have brought this change is the fact that Mercedes has had a real threat for the first time in years. Moreover, as the things stand right now, every possibility of the Dutch joining Mercedes looks to be thrown out of the window.
Verstappen has been leading the championship standings for a while now and it will be interesting to see who takes it home with only two races remaining in the calendar.
